Because all 18 rotors acoustically operate within a narrow frequency range, to the human ear they sound only twice as loud as one single rotor. For comparison: A Volocopter 2X within a 75-metre distance is as quiet as the smallest helicopter within 500 metres distance.

Altitude control, balance, and landing can be intuitively managed by control stick. Even when the pilot lets go of it, the Volocopter automatically holds its position.
