Volocopter is the pioneer of urban air mobility (UAM), an emerging branch of fully electric aviation. Our aspiration to make the dream of electric flight come true has resulted in safe and uniquely designed aircraft. Our air taxis and longer-range passenger aircraft will offer alternative, affordable transit solutions – emission-free and more sustainably and efficiently than before. For more than 10 years, we have been enhancing our initial prototype to build a sophisticated ecosystem that will complement our air taxis, thus opening up a whole new perspective on and for the city. By offering all-electric flights over megacities across the globe, we will make more room on the streets, thus relieving congestion, pollution, and other big-city hassles. Interconnected key transport hubs will allow us to ferry passengers across major cities more easily and sustainably than before.
In just ten years we have come further than anybody else in eVTOL history. It all began in 2011, with our now famous prototype. Take a look at the key milestones we’ve achieved over the years.
„The future of aviation is shaped by visionaries. The integration of Volocopter into our Diamond Aircraft portfolio marks a new milestone on our mission to revolutionize general aviation.
By securing the future of the eVTOL sector in Europe and leveraging Diamond’s unparalleled engineering expertise and operational resources, I am confident in our ability to position Volocopter as a global leader in urban air mobility, pioneering sustainable solutions for the cities of tomorrow.“
Liqun (Frank) Zhang serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Diamond Aircraft Industries, a prominent manufacturer in the general aviation sector. Under Frank’s leadership, Diamond Aircraft has continued to innovate and expand its product offerings. Several notable achievements during his tenure are growing the Diamond sales and production capacity to more than double the volume, leading certification of the DA50 single piston engine luxury fixed-wing aircraft with EASA, and developing the eDA40 (electric pilot training aircraft) and DART 750 (aerobatic government pilot training aircraft).
Frank’s expertise spans the entire aviation industry chain, from aircraft manufacturing to airport management, flight training, general aviation operations, and flight service centers.
Frank’s vision is to elevate Volocopter to a position of global leadership in the advanced air mobility market leader.
David Bausek started his career with Diamond Aircraft as a manufacturing engineer and continued as a design engineer for the DA50, single-engine aircraft, and others. He successfully developed and certified as Technical Project Lead the DA62, Diamond's flagship model. Later on, he led the Austrian Production as Accountable Manager for more than 5 years with over 600 employees. Thereafter, he set up manufacturing plants in China from Greenfield. In recent years, he has been working as Wanfeng Group CTO and has established global engineering teams and focused on developing eVTOL and strategic innovation for Diamond Products.
David Bausek is a passionate pilot with more than 20 years of industry experience in the design and certification of General Aviation Aircraft. He also likes hands-on work and has taught for more than 10 years at different universities to develop new talents. David holds a degree in Aviation Engineering from FH Joanneum and a Master of Arts in Innovation Management from Campus 02.
At Volocopter, David embodies a passion for innovation and sustainable urban air mobility.
