Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis and other eVTOLs off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable, on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we carried out the first-ever piloted flight of a fully electric multicopter and have since conducted more than 1,500 public and private test flights across the world (www.volocopter.com). 

Job Description

Your crew during this flight: 

The Policy and Regulatory Affairs (PRA) Team at Volocopter acts as the focal point for all activities related to rulemaking and government affairs. Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Affairs, you will i) gain firsthand experience into how new regulations are developed for an innovative sector, ii) interact with aviation regulatory authorities across the globe (including EU, US and Asia) and iii) in close collaboration with our team, help in preparing regulatory strategies.

Your mission during this flight:

  • You will provide research support on the regulatory aspects of mobility, sustainability, and aviation.
  • You will monitor the ongoing UAM/eVTOL rulemaking and policy developments and assess them in terms of impact on Volocopter’s mission. This would include coordinating the commenting of relevant regulations and standards proposals coming from European and worldwide aviation authorities.
  • You will work with other Volocopter teams (e.g., certification, air operations, airspace & vertiports) to gather evidence and develop arguments that support Volocopter’s position on rulemaking in target markets.
  • You will support the team with administrative tasks including event organization, internal communication, and meeting preparation and follow-ups.
  • You will coordinate general topics of the Policy & Regulatory Affairs Team with other Volocopter teams.
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • You have at least a Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, law, public policy or similar fields. Bachelor’s students who have at least completed 4 semesters are also welcome to apply.
  • You are available for 6 months (full-time).
  • You have excellent MS Office Skills.
  • You are self-motivated, a communicative team player and have excellent organizational skills.
  • You show initiative, enjoy accountability, and have a solution-oriented way of working.
  • You are fluent in English.

Preferred skills:

  • You have first experiences with aviation / drones, rulemaking or working with government institutions.
  • You are comfortable analyzing legal text and policy papers.
  • You have a good understanding of the working of the EU and its institutions.
  •  You are passionate about new technologies & disciplines such as e.g. sustainability, AI, mobility, aviation law
