Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis and other eVTOLs off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. Your future crew is a team of highly experienced and motivated group of professionals within the mechanical engineering department. We work together to create innovative solutions for complex problems. The team is comprised of engineers, technicians and support staff who have an unwavering commitment to excellence and strive to deliver the highest quality on time. Your mission during this flight:

As Senior Mechanical Engineer - Propulsion, you will be responsible for all structural topics in propulsion unit (structural design, stress etc.), testing (durability, static strength, wind tunnel etc.) and compliance demonstration on structural topics. This includes test activities such as defining test strategy, test bench selection, test plan and report preparation; and analysis activities such as fatigue, damage tolerance and static strength.

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc. / M.Eng. preferred)
  • Minimum 4+ years of professional experience as a mechanical design engineer designing, performing initial structural analysis and validations of composite and metallic structures, plus other additional work experience
  • Experience in structural analysis with FEM simulation tools and hand calculation
  • Experience in certifying/verifying aerospace structures, preferably in propulsion units
  • Experience with PLM Software, ideally Siemens Teamcenter 
  • Knowledge of static, fatigue, thermal and vibration analysis in structures 
  • Hands-on experience on test activities to define test parameters, loading etc. and to prepare relevant documentation
  • Possessing a highly motivated and proactive attitude in the workplace.
  • Autonomous work style with a high level of self-reliance
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, German or any other language is beneficial

Bonus skills:

  • Experience in working with aerospace standards and development processes as CS23/CS27/SC-VTOL/DO-160G/
  • Experience in using HyperMesh, Nastran, OptiStruct.
  • Experience in software related project management (e.g. Jira).
  • Basic knowledge in working with CAD Software, ideally Siemens NX
