Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

Manufacturing Engineers provide support for all stages of an aircraft program lifecycle. The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) discipline is consulted and responsible for manufacturing plan development, full-rate production standup and support, and post-delivery sustainment and modification activities. MEs are integral at every program stage for efficient and effective aircraft production.

This position will be embedded in detailed manufacturing plans, concepts, corrective action, processes, and procedures. The day-to-day tasking will include working with shop floor personnel, design engineering, quality engineering, industrial engineering, and other engineering disciplines to support the production of our various platforms.

This position requires a detail-oriented and organized candidate with demonstrated technical proficiency and capability. Strong communication skills – written and verbal – are required to successfully interface with various departments within Aero.

  • You participate in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) reviews to ensure production topics are considered.
  • You create detailed manufacturing instructions to document new processes.
  • You select and commission production tools and equipment through acceptance testing.
  • You recommend and implement any changes for continuous improvement of ongoing production.
  • You collect and provide all necessary documentation to the shopfloor.
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing or operations, specifically in the final assembly line within the aviation industry.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • Experience working on process improvement and corrective action efforts.
  • Knowledge of PLM / ERP systems. 
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering and manufacturing principles.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work by oneself and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in introducing new processes into a production environment.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SIEMENS NX as well as SIEMENS Teamcenter.
  • Experience in quality or structural assembly department.
  • German language skills are a plus.
