We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

The purpose of this position is to assist and improve the company's capability in airspace modelling and simulation and develop solutions for capacity designation and optimisation of our VTOL operations in urban environments and to scale operations in all our target cities. 

  • To model airspace, simulate flight paths and derive optimised flight trajectories and procedures for individual flights and fleet operations in any given VLL airspace considering demand, airspace design and capacity restrictions, available services (CNS/ATM/UTM), aircraft equipage and performance
  • To develop flight procedures for Volocopter aircraft to define safe, efficient VLL airspace operation, e.g. to define airspace capacity and to develop concepts for abnormal situations
  • To develop and implement optimised airspace design models that fit the intended flight area and Volocopter aircraft performance
  • To document, evaluate and present results for other Volocopter teams and external stakeholders
  • To participate and contribute actively to local, regional and international airspace research and demonstration projects 
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Experience in airspace modelling and in working with one or more airspace simulation tools
  • Good understanding of UAS, VTOL aircraft operations and flight procedures
  • Knowledge of common airspace and route design as well as flight procedure standards (e.g. ICAO Doc. 4444, 8168, etc.)
  • Familiar with traffic management concepts to integrate manned and unmanned aircraft in controlled and uncontrolled airspace
  • Very good command of English

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in the application of airspace simulation tools
  • Experience or very good knowledge of airspace rules and design as well as helicopter or GA flight performance
  • Experience in flight procedure planning
