We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

Our batteries are a key component to making the Volocopter fly safely. With your specific experience in integrating batteries, you contribute directly to the constant improvement of this unique, safe and simple flight experience. As an integral part of our battery system development team, you support in driving the technical development of this system. But most importantly, you will provide technical expertise for all battery related topics.

  • Drive the development of battery concepts on the pack and system level and provide guidance for the detailed design and production of these battery systems
  • Provide expert assessment and troubleshooting during battery development, testing and operation
  • Review and approve development work & technical documentation such as design description documents, test results, and others
  • Represent Volocopter externally in regards of battery technical topics
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Master in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering
  • At least 5 (more for senior) years strong relevant experience in the development of Li-Ion battery systems including simulation and testing for different applications and industries
  • Experience in the production of Li-Ion battery systems
  • Solid understanding of electrical (HV DC, sensing/electronics/embedded systems, electrical modeling and simulation, wiring & connectors) and mechanical engineering (welding, shocks/vibrations, metal, plastic and composite material science, FEM and CFD simulation, thermodynamics) topics
  • Understanding of electrochemistry and relevant battery materials and cell technologies & market overview of cells and electrical/mechanical battery components

Preferred skills:

  • PhD in electrical, mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Knowledge on Agile methodology
  • Convincing, methodical, visionary, taking decisions and responsibility, transparent
