We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopter (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

As an Embedded Software Engineer - Flight Controls you will design and implement safety-critical code within a multi-disciplinary team and develop embedded software for a real UAM solution that will literally take off in front of you.

Your mission during this flight:

  • Develop software for the Flight Control System in compliance with DO-178C objectives
  • Capture software requirements and improve software development standards
  • Deploy agile software development methods
  • Coordinate and execute software testing and support bench test activities
  • Align software design and architecture with the system engineers
  • Assist in software verification efforts in accordance with applicable industry standards
Qualifications

Required skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the development of real-time embedded software and distributed embedded solutions
  • Expert software development skills in C
  • Familiar with RTOS, software configuration management tools and continuous integration
  • Proven track of test coverage, worst case execution time analysis, worst case stack usage analysis and static code analysis
  • Experience with digital communication bus standards (e.g. ARINC429, ARINC825, SPI, I²C, UART, etc)
  • Structured way of working, attention to detail, high sense of responsibility and accountability

 

Preferred skills:

  • Background in safety critical DO-178 and/or DO-331 development projects
  • Git knowledge
