We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As Safety Engineer you will ensure that Volocopter products are developed, designed, produced, and supported according to the state-of-art and applicable safety standards (associated with airworthiness regulations). You maintain Safety throughout the whole lifecycle, considering Human Factors and operation.

  • To manage and perform safety assessments like Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Common Cause Analysis (CCA) / Common Mode Analysis (CMA), Fault-Tree Analysis (FTA), Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), Preliminary System Safety Assessment (PSSA), System Safety Assessment (PSSA), Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • To derive and define safety objectives for aircraft functions, systems, and/or equipment like Development Assurance Level (DAL) or Maximum probability of occurrence for failure conditions
  • To derive and define safety objectives for systems functions incl. subsystems
  • To liaise with Engineering, Operations, & industry Partners to facilitate resolution of cross-boundary issues
  • To analyze problem reports with respect to impact on safety
Qualifications

Check-in your professional skills:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in aviation or related discipline
  • More than 3 years of professional experience as Safety Engineer
  • Knowledge of the certification and safety process - ARP4754 and ARP4761
  • Familiar with safety methods, processes, and tools
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills
  • Available to travel, if/as required

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in systems engineering (safety and/or mission-critical projects)
  • Hands-on experience in quality management
  • Familiar with Requirements Based Engineering (RBE)
  • Hands-on experience in different design and development cycles
