Full-time

FullStack Developer - Flight Planning (m/f/d)
Munich, Germany

We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electric multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale VoloCity aircrafts (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As a Fullstack Software Developer at Volocopter, you will be part of the CDO Resort. You work together with our product owners, partners, and UI/UX experts on high-quality software solutions in cross-functional, autonomous teams. Your team builds the Flight Planning Software for VoloIQ, creating a digital experience for planning and validating the routes for our Aircrafts, and help our users to negotiate and align those routes with our internal and external stakeholders, as well as identifying and define alternate landing sites on the route for continued safe flight and landing.

  • You will design and build advanced applications for the VoloIQ in one of the Product Teams.
  • You will collaborate with the other developers in your cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • You will write tests on multiple layers for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
  • You will work on bug fixing and improving application stability & performance.
  • You will support the entire application lifecycle (concept, design, test, release and support).
  • You will stay up-to-date with new technology trends.

This is an on-site role at one of our locations in Germany (Bruchsal/Karlsruhe region or Munich).

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • You have a degree in computer science or a comparable education.
  • Proven working experience in software development in Python and TypeScript.
  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs like FastAPI/Django or React.
  • Solid understanding of OOP and FP paradigms, and you know when to use which.
  • Working knowledge of the general cloud landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Solid understanding of the full development life cycle.
  • You have a strong math/physics background, and you are interested in using this in your daily work.

Additional

  • Prior knowledge in 3D route/pathfinding including height maps and performance models is a big plus and will put you in front of the queue.
  • We are very interested to hear if you have previous experience with data-heavy workloads, and have knowledge of how to make data available for other products.
  • For this position, a person who (while being interested in fullstack) enjoys the backend more than the frontend, and is happy to drive topics there.
