We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopter (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As a FBW System Engineer you will join our currently 18 membered team of dynamic technical experts who are enthusiastic in the field of system engineering and flight control mechanisms. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team and coordinate between the various teams and systems to ensure successful certification.

  • Develop advanced technical concepts at flight control system level
  • Manage requirements at flight control level such as functional-, safety-, regulatory-, environmental-, human factors and performance requirements
  • Create and manage a comprehensive requirement catalog at the system level
  • System-level expert for coordination and alignment with various internal departments as well as certification authorities
  • Work closely with all engineering disciplines including flight test
  • Produce analysis, tests, drawings and design specifications
  • Coordinate and manage external suppliers
Qualifications

Required skills

  • Engineering degree (B.Sc. or higher)
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in systems engineering for complex systems (preferably aviation-related)
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and standards (ARP4754A, ARP4761 or equivalent standards)
  • Profound understanding of the verification and validation aspects in aviation
  • Highly skilled and effective in technical writing and communicating with others
  • Proficiency with systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, SysML, etc.)

Preferred skills

  • Experience in monitors development in complex flight control systems (ARP6539)
  • Knowledge about aviation data buses
  • Touchpoints with optical interfaces
  • Experience in validation and verification of flight control systems
  • Theoretical knowledge about flight physics or electrical systems
  • A structured way of working and a high sense of accountability
  • Experience with supplier management
