We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011, we performed the first-ever crewed flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopters (www.volocopter.com).

Your mission during this flight:

The Purpose of this role is to organize and perform all testing activities regarding battery testing. This includes tests during development and qualification testing for the final product.

You will play a vital part in designing a safe battery by performing battery development & qualification tests. You will own the testing process end-to-end. 

Tests include, for example, HPPC, OCV, Thermal Runawy, Short circuit, vibration, special test requests. This also includes tests on materials for the battery like housing materials.

You will identify and develop tests that allow understanding component and system behavior with a focus on battery cells and battery pack materials

Activities include: 

• Prepare test campaign documents:
• Develop test setups
• Clarify the test requirements
• Develop a test schedule
• Supervise test execution and execute tests
• Review & analyze test results, create reports
• Perform Test Reviews (TRRs)

Check in your professional skills:

• B.Sc./Eng. or M.Sc./Eng. in areas of Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar

• You have several years of experience in the Testing of Batteries or similar products in a technical environment (e.g. Environmental Testing, Abuse Testing, Vibration, Test Setups …)

• You are able to build test systems

•  You have technical knowledge in Battery Development for High Current applications or similar products

• You have acquired excellent written and spoken English language skills

• You have knowledge about automotive standards DO160G and DO311A or comparable standards from other industries

• You bring a Hands-on mentality and a high commitment to safety

•  HV training 3A / 3E

Preferred skills: 

• You have 2+ years experience in battery testing

• Experience in aviation industry & regulation

• HV training 2b / 2E

• You have worked in V-Cycle and AGILE / SCRUM environments and have an awareness of the methodologies and used tools (e.g. JIRA)

•  Experience in EASA approved Design organizations [Part-21J] and understanding of the certification process for aviation is preferred
