We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Job Description

Your future Volocopter crew:

Within a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary team you develop and define the state-of-the-art mechanical design of the Avionics components for the Volocopter, that is key to its best-in-class performance.

Your mission during this flight:

As the Mechanical Integration Engineer, your mission is to ensure the mechanical design of the Avionics components are integrated in the aircraft structure and the overall integration passes the certification process. You will provide technical expertise to ensure the company goals for successful integration of this components are achieved.

  • You interface with suppliers for the avionics components development.
  • You plan, initiate, and coordinate design reviews to verify proper implementation.
  • You oversee and align mechanical and other requirements with system owners and help defining the overall system requirements.
  • You create drawings and documentation to ensure the assembly of the final product.
  • You align modifications to airframe and other structures with system owners.
  • You define equipment’s and parts like brackets and subsystems for integration including alignment with suppliers.
  • You assist manufacturing and  on-side during assembly or modifications.
  • You assist production and quality management.
  • You integrate the mechanical design within digital mockup.
  • You generate and own the Interface Control Documents.
  • You manage the generated design data within Teamcenter Engineering.
  • You ensure build in quality to our design, generate design assessments if needed and participate root cause assessments.

 

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree (MSc.).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in aviation industry, ideally design of aviation products, equipment of aviation products, or components for aviation products.
  • Familiarity with composite manufacturing processes, process limitations, and post-processing of advanced composite components.
  • Familiarity with a variety of integration concepts and assembly processes.
  • Proficiency in working with CAD Software, ideally Siemens NX.
  • Experience with PLM Software, ideally Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Experience with prototyping and testing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of business agility and ability to work within scaling frameworks (e.g. SAFe).
