Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis and other eVTOLs off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. Your mission during this flight:

As Hardware & Integration Engineer – Aviation Connectivity at Volocopter, you are part of the Digital Department working as an integral part of our Connectivity and IoT Team. The team is focusing on the development of connectivity systems for our aircraft portfolio and ground infrastructure. You contribute to the design, development, testing and integration of our visionary aviation connectivity and IoT solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hardware engineering, firmware development, and integration activities.

Responsibilities:

• You will design, develop and select hardware systems and components, including printed circuit boards, power supplies, antennas, etc. for our aviation connectivity products which lay the foundation for connected Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)
• You will develop, test and debug embedded systems
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and system integrators, to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components
• You will develop and execute test plans to ensure quality and reliability of hardware components and the overall system
• You will participate in the product development lifecycle, including design reviews, code reviews, and testing
• You will provide technical support to internal and external customers on the product
• You will stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in hardware and connectivity technologies in the aviation industry

Check in your professional skills:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering or related field
• Passion for hardware development and testing of a visionary product that will set the standards for aviation connectivity in the UAM and AAM domain
• Extensive experience in hardware engineering, with a focus on aviation or automotive systems
• Strong understanding of hardware and systems engineering, including system-level design, integration, and testing
• Hands-on experience in developing, testing, debugging and integrating hardware components into complex systems
• Proficient in embedded software development
• Strong understanding of communication protocols and networking technologies, such as Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, and satellite communication
• Experienced in achieving certification for hardware and software products
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing requirements

Preferred skills:

• Testing and Debugging: Hands-on experience in developing and executing test plans to ensure the quality and reliability of hardware components and the overall system.
• Hardware Engineering: Extensive experience in designing and developing hardware components, including printed circuit boards, power supplies, and antennas, for avionics systems in urban air mobility.
• Aviation Systems Integration: Strong understanding of aviation systems, including system-level design, integration, and testing.
• Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing requirements.
