We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electric multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale VoloCity aircrafts (www.volocopter.com).

Your mission during this flight:

• You will study and develop an alternative cooling concept for the cabin, to be installed in a full-electric unpressurized Vertical Take-Off and Landing vehicle (eVTOL)
• Youl will work on a conceptual and preliminary design of the cooling system, following a set of technical and business requirements
• You will support conceptual design to accomplish requirements through solution ideation, trade-offs. You will support designing for manufacturability and, ideally, allow the possibility for scale-up (e.g., to accommodate double the heat load). The solution is to be certified under the EASA SC-VTOL regulation
• You will support preliminary design (equipment sizing, performance evaluation, weight estimation)

Check in your professional skills:

• You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field
• You have knowledge of air conditioning and heat and mass transfer principles
• You are highly effective in independent work as well as collaborating and communicating with others

Other requirements:

• You hold a work permit valid for a Master's thesis: either as a a citizen or permanent resident of the EU or through a student visa with a permit to work within Germany
