We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). Job Description

Your future Volocopter crew:

Mechanical Subteam of the Battery Development team, 4-5 Persons on Mechanical, 15 on complete Battery + Separate Team on building Battery Manufacturing Line

Your mission during this flight:

As a Battery-pack Integration Engineer, you will ensure a proper mechanical design of battery Integration systems of the Volocopter throughout its lifecycle (from design concept to End-Use-Part). You work closely with all the design engineers, testing, manufacturing and quality department. In cooperation with a Team, you will develop and optimize the battery systems’ Integration components by following the latest industry best practices and aviation certification standards.

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • B.Sc./Eng. or M.Sc./Eng. in areas of aeronautic, structure, mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 3 years proven experience in lightweight structural design and stress calculations in Aviation
  • Strong knowledge in shock and vibrations o Ability to demonstrate numerically (calculate) design solutions
  • Knowledge in composites (in high temp applications is a plus)
  • Hand-on, creative and solution-oriented way of working
  • Strong experience in structural (thermal and mechanical) load analysis for iso/anisotropic materials
  • Experienced in using CAD software and Product Lifecycle platform
  • Good writing and speaking skills in English
  • Experience in aerospace standards, especially with CS23/CS27 – DO311A, DO160G
  • Experience in System Engineering (TRL, Engineering gates (PDR, CDR, TRR, etc), ARP 4754a & 4761A)


Preferred skills:

  • Experience of integration of heavy objects in to Aircrafts o Experienced in using Siemens NX / FEMAP / FIBRESIM
  • Calculation of structures under crash conditions o Knowledge and understanding of Part 21J and EASA DOA functions
  • Detailed knowledge in Battery Systems (ideally for aerospace applications)
  • Experience in composite structures development and optimization process
  • Good understanding of battery systems and their electro-thermo-mechanical behaviour
  • Experience in composite FEM simulation and testing
  • Knowledge in requirements management and traceability
