Safety and Reliability Engineer (m/f/d)

We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever manned flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopter (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

 

  • Management and performing system safety assessments for the Volocopter, including functional hazard analysis (FHA), common cause analysis (CCA) such as: Common Mode Analysis (CMA) and Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), as well as preliminary system safety assessment (PSSA), System Safety Assessment (SSA) and fault-tree analysis (FTA)
  • Performing system reliability assessments, including failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Deriving and definition of safety objectives for functions, systems and equipment of Volocopter projects e.g. development assurance level (DAL) and maximum probability of occurrence for failure conditions
  • Generate and manage safety requirement through the project development life cycle
  • Work closely with specialists in a multidisciplinary team

 

Qualifications
  • Engineering degree (BSc, Msc)
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in functional safety and reliability analysis (e.g. ARP 4754, ARP 4761) knowledge of additional standard and guideline for system safety is a plus
  • Knowledge of SC-VTOL and relevant means of compliance is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and structured approach
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering theory
  • Ability to link theoretical analysis results to practical design decisions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizing ability as well as high sense of responsibility and accountability, hands-on attitude
