We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electric multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale VoloCity aircrafts (www.volocopter.com).
Ensure that the flight physical model is developed and maintained to provide consistent results with test bench and flight test data. Drive the development of the simulation environment to support the execution of loads, performance, and aeroelasticity analysis.
Your mission during this flight:
- Development of the flight physical model according to the need to match flight, ground, and bench test data
- Consider multi-physical aspects in the model like Aerodynamics, structural dynamics, loads, atmospheric conditions, system behaviors, and sensor systems
- Flight physical model qualification by validation and verification
- Develop the infrastructure to allow analysis for Loads, Performance, and aeroelasticity to show and support compliance demonstration to the SC-VTOL
- Execute the validation of the flight physical model
- Prepare the required documentation for the flight physical model qualification
Check in your professional skills:
- You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or similar
- You have at least 4 years of professional experience as a flight physics engineer performing model generation for rotorcraft
- You have demonstrated experience in-flight physical model generation for rotorcrafts
- You have flight model development experience with Flightlab or comparable rotorcraft simulation tool
- You have excellent knowledge and experience in rotorcraft flight dynamics and flight physics including interactional aerodynamics -Knowledge and experience in flight modeling techniques (physical, empirical, stitching)
- You are highly proficient in programming with languages e.g. Python, etc., and scripting e.g. Matlab, etc.
- You have a structured way of working and a high sense of accountability
Preferred skills:
- You have previous expereience in validating a simulation environment for performance, loads, or aeroelasticity
- You have previous experience in a rotorcraft certification process and the use of flight models to support compliance demonstration
