We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

The aeroelasticity group works to ensure that the aircraft design presents healthy dynamic characteristic such as aeroelastic stability and acceptable levels of dynamic loads and vibration. You will assist the team with these topics. 

  • You will assist with the development, integration and maintenance of aeroelastic models and tools (dynamic FEM model, unsteady aerodynamic model, integration with actuator and flight control system models).
  • You will assist in the execution of aeroelastic analyses (flutter, dynamic loads and vibration, open loop characteristics such as phase and gain margin, closed loop characteristics such as eigenvalues).
  • You will assist with the analysis of ground/flight test data.
  • You will assist with the preparation of engineering reports.
  • You will collaborate actively with other teams to provide aircraft level aeroservoelasticity information.
Qualifications

Required

  • You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical engineering or a related field
  • You are familiar with FEM tools
  • You have experience with simulation and data analysis tools (Matlab, Python)
  • You are highly effective in collaborating and communicating with others
  • You have a structured way of working, high sense of responsibility and accountability
  • You hold a work permit valid for an internship: either as a a citizen or permanent resident of the EU or through a visa with a permit to work within Germany

Preferred:

  • You have a background in control engineering and dynamical systems theory
