UI/UX Prototyping designer - Working Student (m/f/d)

We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011, we performed the first-ever crewed flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopters (www.volocopter.com).
Your mission during this flight:
As a working student UI/UX prototyping designer, you will assist our team in evaluating new technologies and their application in our prototyping department. You will be responsible for designing and setting up proof-of-concept solutions for new technologies and challenges. Your role will require a hands-on approach, solid coding skills across a variety of languages, and experience with modern frameworks, for example, but not limited to Flutter, Qt, Kivy, React, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to evaluate new technologies and identify potential applications
- Design and develop UI/UX prototypes to aid in evaluation and testing of new technologies
- Create interactive UI/UX designs to demonstrate and showcase proof-of-concept solutions
- Conduct usability testing to validate designs, identify areas for improvement, and ensure alignment with project goals and requirements
- Provide feedback on the feasibility, potential, and best practices of new technologies and solutions
- Stay up-to-date with the latest UI/UX design trends, technologies, and best practices
- Proficient in number crunching and data analysis techniques
Check in your professional skills:
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, UI/UX design, or a related field
- Strong coding skills across multiple languages (Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
- Familiarity with modern frameworks such as Flutter, Qt, Kivy, React, etc.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and independent working skills
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new programming or scripting languages and frameworks
- Hold a valid work permit for an internship: either as a citizen or permanent resident of the EU or through a visa with a permit to work within Germany
Preferred:
- Experience with UI/UX design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, InVision)
- Experience in mobile app development for Android or iOS devices
- Familiarity with ground control stations of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and MAVLink communication protocol
- Understanding of computer networking fundamentals and principles
