Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As Handling Qualities Engineer you will work on the Flight Control Laws to shape and enhance the handling qualities of the Volocopter. This job provides an opportunity to work on a Flight Control System that will matter for people all over the world, that will literally take off in front of you.

You will be responsible to drive the handling quality test campaign and ensure that the Flight Control Laws meet the related requirements.
You will be develop methods for Handling Quality assessment based on pilot rating (such as Cooper-Harper HQ Rating Scale) as well as analysis.
You will define Handling Quality tests for our simulator test benches and flight test and be part of the test execution.
You will assist the adjustment of the parameterization of the Flight Control Laws based on tests to ensure that the Handling Quality requirements are met
You will plan HQ-related FT requests and Support HQ-related FT, assess pilot feedback, adjust parameters as required
You will develop FT data assessment tools, automatic evaluation with a focus on HQ aspects

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Control Engineering, or similar.
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in relevant field
Experience in conducting rotorcraft aircraft handling qualities assessment through analysis, simulation, and flight test.
Good knowledge of control theory
Good skills in MATLAB and Simulink

Preferred skills:

Experienced with aerodynamics and flight dynamics of vertical take-off and landing aircraft
Knowledge of handling/flying qualities standards (ADS-33E-PRF and MIL-DTL-9490E)
Experience with flight mechanical simulation modeling is a plus
