We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011, we performed the first-ever crewed flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopters (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As a System Architect at Volocopter, you develop high-quality hard- and software solutions, you bring our connectivity and IoT solutions as well as our VoloIQ platform to the next level. By collaborating tightly with product owners and engineers, you develop high-quality hard- and software solutions.

  • You develop, test and implement end-2-end connectivity solutions in alignment with the product strategy
  • You derive requirements and test plans to develop the architecture for our connectivity, and cloud systems
  • You work on cutting edge technology to connect aircraft and ground infrastructure to digitalize aerospace
  • You coordinate the solution strategy and its implementation
  • You craft solutions optimized for their special purpose, guided by fundamental principles of soft- and hardware development
  • You take architectural decisions to ensure a high degree of performance, robustness, and maintainability of our IoT and connectivity solutions
  • You collaborate with our cooperation partners to ensure seamless integration of components into our solutions 
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a comparable field of study
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in a similar position
  • Ability to own and present architecture and strategy to both executives as well as individual contributors
  • Expert in network architecture, wireless communications, protocols and technology selection
  • Versed in software and hardware engineering in an agile environment
  • Hands-on experience in building, troubleshooting, and testing electrical systems
  • In-depth knowledge on data exchange between vehicles, infrastructure and cloud-based environments (V2X, V2I, V2N, V2C)

Preferred skills:

  • Background in aerospace
  • Expertise in using DO-178, DO-254 and DO-160
