We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

Our power distribution systems are key to making the aircraft fly. With your specific experience in electrical system development, you contribute directly to the constant improvement of this important system.

As an integral part of our Propulsion System Team you contribute to all high and low voltage power distribution, power conversion and interface with other systems, from system definitions to aircraft certification, through all development phases and design reviews

  • You work in an Agile Scrum Team to create the low voltage network architecture for our Volocity Aircraft
  • You define component specifications (power distribution, DC/DC converters, circuit protections, low voltage battery, interfaces)
  • You create life cycle data and documentation required from system development to certification (system description, ICDs, test procedures, test reports, electrical load analysis, and other applicable reports)
  • You manage suppliers for component development
  • You plan, initiate and coordinate design reviews to verify proper implementation
  • You promote integrated development with other teams
  • You plan and coordinate test activities with suppliers and internal tests facilities (laboratory and flight test)
  • You assit with aircraft production and quality management
  • You assit with technical discussions among teams and promote technical innovation
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Bachelor/Master/PhD or equivalent degree in aviation, electrical engineering or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in equipment development for aviation (specially power distribution units and batteries)
  • Knowledge of FPGA and electrical hardware for aviation
  • Knowledge of EASA certification specification CS Part 23, 25 or 27 and AMC
  • Knowledge of SAE-ARP-4754, SAE-ARP-4761, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-178 or comparable standards
  • Knowledge of PLM systems (preferably Teamcenter)
  • Knowledge of Problem Reporting and root-cause analysis methodologies
  • Good understanding of aerospace product development cycle and processes
  • Experience in requirements management tools (such as DOORS or Integrity)
  • Structured way of working, high sense of responsibility and accountability with a hands-on attitude
  • Dynamic and flexible to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, experience with supplier handling
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus)

Preferred skills:

  • 5 years+ relevant experience
  • Experience in 3D design and system modeling
  • Experience in agile/scrum
