We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As Data Communication Engineer you will be part of the Avionics Team working on the VoloCity with a focus on data bus development and certification that run on a real urban air mobility solution. 

  • Development of the data bus (architecture, requirements, ICDs) of the aircraft 
  • Implementation of the data communication protocols based on the aerospace standards (e.g. ARINC 825) 
  • Planning and supporting the development assurance activities (e.g. requirements validation, verification procedures development and approval) 
  • Preparing and participation in the design reviews (PDR, CDR etc.), internally and with suppliers 
  • Generation of the compliance evidence for the certification 
  • Work closely with specialists in a multidisciplinary team 
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Degree in electrical computer science, telecommunications, aerospace engineering or similar 
  • Proven experience in safety-critical CAN bus applications, ideally ARINC 825 CAN bus, as well as certification for safety-critical applications
  • Knowledge of the full stack of the OSI model of the communication protocols such as ARINC 429, CAN/CAN FD, RS-485, Ethernet, FlexRay, TTP, SPI, UART 
  • Experience with the compliance demonstration for the EASA/FAA data bus certification objectives 
  • Good knowledge about requirements engineering with requirement management tools like Integrity or DOORS 
  • Thorough analytical skills and a structured approach 

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with optical data communication in aircraft applications is an advantage 
  • Experience with ARINC 664 (AFDX) networks is an advantage 
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in aerospace development 
  • Experience in working in EASA approved Design Organisation (Part21J) 
  • Detailed knowledge and practical expertise of ARP4754A, DO-178, DO-254
