We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Composites structural Assembly line. This position requires an experienced professional with comprehensive knowledge in Adhesive Bonding technologies as well as screw, bolt and rivet technologies in aircraft production. The position will take responsibility for all structural assembly activities and will ensure manufacturing ability to meet target rates.

  • You create adequate manufacturing processes and perform worker training
  • You create detailed manufacturing instructions to document new processes
  • You participate in DFMA reviews to ensure production topics are considered
  • You participate in assembly jig design for consideration of process requirements
  • You select and commission production tools and equipment through acceptance testing
  • You create and maintain worksheets for various production tasks
  • You collect and provide all necessary documentation to technicians
  • You act as a bridge between engineering and production
  • You create and document manufacturing procedures
  • You recommend and implement any changes for continuous improvement of ongoing production
  • You perform and plan component Kitting and stock availability along with procurement
  • You study production data to identify and improve processes causing inefficiencies in overall process performance
  • You design production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency
Qualifications

Check-in your professional skills:

  • BS/MS In Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in composite aircraft and/or automotive structural Assembly
  • Experience in the design of Assembly Jigs for Carbon Composite Structures
  • Very good knowledge in the reproducible application of paste as well as film adhesives
  • Good knowledge in the field of selection and application of fasteners
  • Proficiency in GD&T and CAD
  • Knowledge of PLM systems
  • Familiar with ERP system
  • Fluent in English 

Preferred skills:

  • Certified European Adhesive Engineer (EAE) or European Adhesive Specialist (EAS)
  • Certified Screw Engineer or Screw Specialist
  • Experience introducing new processes into a production environment
  • Lean production experience
  • Experience with SIEMENS NX as well as SIEMENS Teamcenter
  • German is a plus
