We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We are bringing urban air mobility to life by introducing our air taxis and drones as an electric addition to current transportation options in megacities worldwide. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011, we performed the first-ever crewed flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopters (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

Bring your PX4 and Qgroundcontrol know-how onboard for mission planning and trajectory tracking of our different aircrafts (prototypes) for extensive flight testing.

Main tasks:

Develop a working prototype of mission planning and control functions with the focus of flight tests using Qgroundcontrol and PX4
Hands-on with in home development Flight Control SW and HW
Hands on with PX4 and Qgroundcontrol
Develop Embedded SW for Autoflight using C/C++
Work with GNSS, IMU and sensor fusion when necessary
Always focus on real flight test using different types of aircrafts in our product family
Mission planning and control for multirotor/fix-wing and transitioning aircraft (VTOL to wingborne and backwards).

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

Hands-On attitude, passion for making/seeing stuff work/move/fly
PhD, Master or Bachelor student in the field of Computer Sciences, Robotics, Control, Flight Control or similar. (However: real world experience and passion beats academic degrees)
Real-life and deep development experience with PX4 (HW and SW) and relevant products
Real-life and deep development experience with Qgroundcontrol
Experience in automated flight: mission planning, trajectory tracking, 3D position and velocity control
Excellent C and C++ knowledge
Record of Embedded SW development projects (providing open-source code is an asset)
Experience with make, GIT, Jenkins.

Preferred skills:

Matlab/Simulink knowledge is a bonus, but C/C++ knowledge beats it.
