We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopter (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

You will design and implement the software that will enable or will be part of the autonomous flight software development onboard Volocopter (all product lines, and initial focus on VoloDrone).

Your tasks:

  • Software Design and Release Process, based on continuous integration and implementation of industry standards for in-time assurance so that traceability of requirements and safety of onboard functions are maintained
  • Overall SW architecture design (modules, functions allocations, interface requirements)
  • Overall SW testing, integration, and maintenance framework also integrating with the In-time as enabling technology
  • Create and align with the team in regards to the Software Requirements specification

  • Knowledge of SW Configuration management tool, continuous integration, static code analysis
  • Software Engineering (Patterns, Architectures, Models, Release Process Models)
  • Requirements tools and tracing with PTC Integrity / Windchill or similar such as Doors / Scade
  • Software Testing Frameworks, e.g. Polyspace, Boost Test, Google Test
  • Software Testing Methodologies (Model-based, Statistical)
  • Software Quality: Assurance standards for safety-critical systems, e.g. RTCA DO178
  • Programming Languages: C/C++ Objective C, Embedded C/C++, Python etc.
  • Coding Standards and Quality Assurance Tools e.g. cppCheck
  • Knowledge in development processes
  • Robotics software frameworks such as ROS
  • Team player, confident in technical discussions, ability to organize and “get things done”, good in communication 
  • Structured way of working, high sense of responsibility, hands-on attitude 

Preferred skills

  • Compiler and Parser Generators
  • Domain-specific Languages
  • Autocoders, e.g. Matlab Simulink code generation
  • Static and dynamic analyzers eg AbsInt, Trust In Soft
  • Continuous Integration development Infrastructure (eg Jenkins, Git / SVN, Cloud-based Testing and Development)
  • Experience with AGILE, SAFe framework
  • Experience with Functional Safety
  • Experience with machine learning
  • Formal languages such as Temporal Logic (LTL, CTL, Lola)
  • Software Development from Matlab / Simulink or similar e.g. Enterprise Architect, IBM Rhapsody
