Intern

Intern for eVTOL Battery Pack (FEM) Vibration Analysis (m/f/d)
Bruchsal, Germany

We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electric multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale VoloCity aircrafts (www.volocopter.com).

From building new things to utilizing current technology, we follow an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving.

  • Investigate the effect of aircraft vibrations on an eVTOL battery pack, by performing shock and vibration simulations (g-loads vs Frequency)
  • Perform fatigue and lifetime evaluations of CFRP and thermosetting plastics
  • Develop overall understanding and strategy to mitigate vibration loads
  • Your analysis and results will have an impact on the whole design chain of the battery pack, and an eVTOL aircraft
  • You will be part of the Mechanical Integration team inside the Battery team and involved in the day-to-day design discussions of the battery pack
  • Develop expertise in the highly futuristic field at the intersection of electrification, eVTOL certification, and high energy physics
