We at Volocopter are the pioneers of electric air taxis, i.e. aircraft that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring urban air mobility to life, by getting air taxis and drones off the gorund in a way that complements current transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electric multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale VoloCity aircrafts (www.volocopter.com).

Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As our CAD Methods & Tools Engineer, your mission is to customize and ensure that we have an excellent configuration of our CAD Software (Siemens NX) to support our engineers in developing and designing our products. You will provide technical expertise to ensure we meet out company goals are to shape the future of urban air mobility.

Your tasks:

• You define the roadmap and methodology for the CAD/PLM roadmap of the company
• You analyze Volocopter specific requirements and workflows
• You develop the CAD Methods and Processes for modelling and drafting
• You develop the CAD/PDM electrical methodology for applications in our Engineering and Manufacturing processes
• You develop the methodology for the generation and maintenance of the Digital Mock Up (DMU)
• Your develop the process of mechanisms simulation
• You develop the process for data extraction of the DMU
• You develop the utilities of design application for the automatization and simplification of the modelling and documentation process
• You develop the process and utilities for the quality control of the DMU
• You troubleshoot occurring CAD issues
• You continuously improve our CAD user manual/PDM processes and tools in close alignment with the key-user community
• You provide advice for technical and methodology topics within Siemens NX
• You develop customized NX configurations, tools and processes
• You training concepts together with service providers and conduct training workshops
• You install automation, configuration and customization within NX

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

Required:

  • You have a degree (B.Sc./Dipl.-Ing./M.Sc.) in mechanical engineering or an equivalent experience
  • You have 5+ years of experience with parametric modelling and drafting as well as NX Schematics and advanced surface modelling
  • You have experience in customizing and developing solutions in Siemens NX
  • You have experience in the aerospace industry
  • You are committed to time-based activities & deadlines
  • You are a team player with a positive attitude and excellent problem-solving skills


Preferred:

  • You have administrative knowledge of Teamcenter Rich Client and/or AWC 
  • You have programming skills in C#.NET or comparable languages using NXOpen
  • You have experience with light weight structural design in an aerospace environment
  • You have knowledge of business agility and have ability to work with scaling frameworks (e.g. SAFe)
