We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As Engineer for Power Drives / Inverters, you will develop components running on Heavy Lift Utility Drones which will make a breakthrough in the transportation industry – the VoloDrones.

You will design, implement, and test the devices for the aircraft, allowing the deployment of our VoloDrones all over the world. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you contribute to the developments for the VoloDrone propulsion systems.

  • Responsible for the Design of the Inverter as part of the Power and Propulsion Unit of the Aircraft
  • Create specifications for the Product
  • Perform HW and SW Engineering and Design activities
  • Coordinate and organize Testing
  • Coordinate external suppliers and external/internal technical resources
  • Track development process and production/delivery status
  • Assist in software & hardware verification in accordance with applicable industry standards
  • Assist in test bench and flight test activities
Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • B.Eng., M.Sc, Ph.D. or similar degree in Electrical / Software / Systems Engineering or similar
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in the development of electric drive systems • Knowledge regarding Motor Drives , Motor Controls and Inverters
  • Knowledge on HW and SW development for the related products
  • Experience in Embedded C
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience in Schematic Design preferrable with Altium Designer
  • Knowledge on DO 178 and ISO 26262 standards
  • Ability to link theoretical analysis results to practical design decisions
  • Experience in Testing the applications
  • Team player, confident in technical discussions, ability to organize and “get things done”
  • Structured way of working, high sense of responsibility and Hands-On attitude
  • Dynamic and flexible to changing requirements
  • Very good English language skills (written and spoken)

Preferred skills:

  • Deep knowledge of electronic HW and/or SW development
  • Experience with safety relevant systems
  • High sense of accountability
  • Experience in drones or aviation industry is a plus
  • Experience in AGILE / SCRUM
